Backlash (2009), an upcoming professional wrestling pay-per-view event produced by World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), will take place on April 26, 2009 at the Dunkin' Donuts Center in Providence, Rhode Island. It will feature talent from all three WWE brands: Raw, SmackDown, and ECW. Currently, six matches are scheduled on the event's card.
Backlash will feature professional wrestling matches that involve different wrestlers from pre-existing scripted feuds, plots, and storylines that will play out on Raw, Friday Night SmackDown, ECW on Sci Fi, and Superstars—World Wrestling Entertainment's (WWE) primary television programs. Wrestlers will portray either a villain or a hero as they follow a series of events that build tension, and culminate into a wrestling match or series of matches. The event will feature wrestlers from WWE's Raw, SmackDown, and ECW brands—a storyline division in which WWE employees are assigned to the television program of the same name.
